RESUMEN

Michael Pluess es catedrático de Psicología del Desarrollo en el Departamento de Psicología Biológica y Experimental de la Universidad Queen Mary de Londres (Reino Unido).

Su investigación se centra en tres áreas:

1ª.- Diferencias individuales en Sensibilidad Ambiental, la noción de que algunas personas se ven más afectadas por la misma experiencia que otras debido a que son más sensibles a las influencias ambientales.

2ª.- Desarrollo Positivo, como el desarrollo y la evaluación de intervenciones dirigidas a promover el desarrollo de resultados psicológicos positivos en los niños, y

3ª.- Salud Mental y Resiliencia en Entornos Humanitarios, incluyendo estudios longitudinales y ensayos controlados aleatorios sobre intervenciones de salud mental en entornos humanitarios.

Sus investigaciones se han publicado en las principales revistas de investigación científica.

SOBRE MÍ

El Dr. Pluess se doctoró en Psicología del Desarrollo en 2009 por la Universidad de Basilea (Suiza).

Durante sus estudios de doctorado, supervisados por el profesor Jay Belsky, trabajó en el Instituto para el Estudio de los Niños, las Familias y las Cuestiones Sociales de la Universidad Birkbeck de Londres.

Realizó trabajos posdoctorales en Londres, en la Universidad Birkbeck de Londres y en la Universidad de East London, así como en Estados Unidos, en la Universidad de California Davis.

En 2012 obtuvo una beca de excelencia en el Instituto de Psiquiatría del King’s College de Londres, donde trabajó como profesor de psicología del desarrollo en el Centro de Psiquiatría Social, Genética y del Desarrollo del MRC (SGDP) antes de trasladarse a la Universidad Queen Mary de Londres.

Tal y como dicen en su web: “Es un sitio dirigido por investigadores dedicados a compartir conocimientos confiables y basados ​​en evidencia sobre el rasgo humano de la sensibilidad.

Definimos la sensibilidad como la capacidad de percibir y procesar información sobre el entorno. El propósito de este sitio web es educar al público y proporcionar recursos gratuitos tanto a investigadores como a profesionales, así como fomentar y facilitar la colaboración internacional entre investigadores”.

El desarrollo inicial de la web ha sido financiado por la Fundación Jacobs, una fundación privada con sede en Suiza que apoya investigaciones y proyectos en todo el mundo para fomentar el desarrollo positivo en los jóvenes.
